What name should we use to Identify our fish.

Should we refer to our fish by their Latin name or their Common name

I’ve Heterandria Formosa at the moment. The owners of the site probably haven’t the bandwidth to list all their common names.
 
Personally, I think people should use either, depending on what they’re most comfortable with. As long as everyone is clear which species/group is being referred to, I don’t think it’s a big deal. It’s true that common names can be misleading as they’re sometimes applied differently in different regions; however, Latin names are also misapplied fairly frequently. In addition, keeping up with changes in Latin names every time a fish is reclassified can be tricky.
 
Common name, unless there is a confusion. (For example, i think that when talking about corydoras or rummy nose tetras, the scientific name should be used)
