What Is Your Opinion?

is anyone actually heard of successful stories about mixing goldfish n tropical?

Yea.... I've done it, but not with neon tetras and the like.....I had them with 2 x Tinfoil barbs.... 4 x Siver dollars; 4 x Congo tets; (eventually removed my algea eater as he would not let the g/fish alone); 2 x Keyholes; a Deacon; 1 x Sunfish and 2 x Blue Acaras. There were 3 goldfish of about 7" and they all lived in harmony, except that the goldfish turned up mouthfulls of gravel and spat it out after every feeding, thus never had clear water. The tank was 7ft x 2ft x 2.5ft deep.

yeah i clean the water often and also use the gravel cleaner, i will post and let you know hat happens when i add them in

The question is: For how long? With a fish that lives decades, you're not successful unless you had it there for many years.

Eddy, everyone is telling you not to do it. The one person who did mix goldfish and tropical did it with big tropicals in a massive tank.

Why exactly are you posting on here if you have no intention of listening to (so far, cumulatively from people who have already posted) about 100 years worth of tropical fish keeping experience?

You're an idiot. Jog on.

shut up i am listening just tryin to get many opinions as possible

I had a bad mix of fish due to lack of knowledge. It has cost me a lot of money to rectify my mistakes.. I have had to buy two more tanks to home the fish that didnt mix well. I have also had two deaths.

As i said, that was from lack of knowledge.

You have been told your smaller fish will get eaten and you have been told the size of your tank will stunt the growth of, and kill your goldfish.

Secondly, you are listening to what you want to hear... that one person has successfully kept goldfish with tropical. You didnt seem to pay attention to the size of their tank compared to yours and you certainly disregarded the advice from everybody else.

Lastly, someone asked why you are bothering to post on here and you told them to shut up.

I think the general consensus here would be to say the same to you.

Personally I might add that you're sick.

Tropical and coldwater fish should not be mixed. I hope that you understand that it is unethical keeping fish that require warmer conditions and fish that require cooler conditions so it is inhumane and unfair on either types of fish.

persoally i think this post is getting out of hand.eddy take the advice given and let it go.this is a place for advice, not insults.

yes thanks for your advice and have decided to stick with keeping the tropical seperate

Glad to see you aren't planning on adding them together but just wanted to mention another problem as I didn't see it posted here.

Goldfish can do ok with the warmer temps, although I'm sure it decreases their life span so not sure exactly how "ok" they do, but they will need a lot more aeration than tropical fish in warmer temps.

Diet- Goldfish have different dietary needs than tropical fish. Tropicals need higher protein foods than most goldfish so it would be almost impossible to feed both to give them what they need. Goldfish on a high protein diet will most likely have intestinal problems.
