hi all i recently changed my tank back to gravel from sand and did a complete refurb on it i added more wood and plants but the last couple of days i have noticed like a white fur growing on one piece of my mopani does anyone know what this is and how to get rid of it

cheers howard

I also had the same thing. From my research i found it to be a fungus.

I sucessfully got rid of it in less than an hour. What i did was remove the wood, and give it a good scrub with a very clean scrubbing brush, i was running the hose over it. When i got it clean i poured heaps of boiling water all over the wood. (about 7 or so jugs full).

Boiling water does the trick, so try that, it worked for me!

If the wood is small enough it could probably fit in a large pot and boiling on the stove would probably be best. But mine was too big so i just poured it over.

cheers mike will try where in oz are you lived there myself for 22 years near the blue mountains in sydney

Sorry to jack the thread lol but wollongong.... wow what an interesting name, not to mention the other 2... sounds like a random fantasy book town.

Im not sure if you know already, But the St George Dragons and the Illawarra Steelers merged. They're now called the 'St George, Illawarra Dragons' but i cant really tell you how they're going as i dont watch footy.

unspoken - Those are the normal names, there is a lot stranger names than that! Try Oodnadatta, Yackandandah, Iron Knob, Uluru. Actually come to think of it, most town names here are funny sounding, even the normal ones!

yeah i knew they merged but wasnt 100% on what they were called what do you follow aussie rules? cricket?or football now they got there first win in a world cup lol
