What Is The Deal With Aquaclears?

So today I just had my 3rd ac in less than 2 years crap out on me. I thought the newer ones were supposed to be pretty reliable. Has anyone else had issues with a bad batch or know if there is some sort of recall out?

I have had mine for 2 years never had a problem. Also when mine did stop working and it had it was because I needed to clean the gunk off the magnet. Then it works like new.

When did you take all apart and cleaned it? I also swob around where the perpeller is to clean it.

On 2 of them the impeller just broke. It was completely gone. On this last one the motor is fried. I usually clean it every month or so.

I think maybe you have had a run of bad luck. I know that a member on here commented that they have nad an aquaclear running for 8 or 9 years, but of course that one os of old design. Maybe try a different brand this time?

They've always had self-priming issues. I lost at least one some years ago because of a power failure. I have 2 new ones, and one of them takes for every to prime. Otherwise, they are great filters.

Yeah I'm thinking I'll just go and buy a large eheim. They've been pretty reliable for me. They just cost an awful lot of money, something that I don't have much of right now.
