last night something happened when I was replying to a thread and now this forum has shrunk in size. The type is still set to 14 but it looks nearer to 12. I'm straining my eyes reading stuff now
 
I've been to 'my settings' to see if there's anything there to change but can't find anything and now I'm stuck. I hate technology! Can someone help me please? I'm using a Toshiba laptop with windows 7 is that's any help

Your screen view may not be at100%.go onto net and go to options in your browser.check view.it should be at 100.

hahaha yes, so do I! I'm the wrong era for modern technology! There was no technology when I was a kid and my brain is just not set up for it. I've actually considered not replacing this laptop when it dies as I just find it all very stressful

Just for future reference, you can use ctrl+0 to re-size a browser back to 100%.  Most likely, you hit the ctrl button while scrolling with the mouse or hit another weird combination such as ctrl + - (the minus)

probably clumsy fingers ... I don't know what half the keys on this laptop do and I've had it three years!

We all have clumsy fingers. These problems are cause by Hot Keys. There are a lot of them which many of us do not know about let alone use. The problem isn't that we accidentally set them off via typos. I do not do tabbed browsing as I prefer to use multiple windows. If I had a dime for every time I accidentally hit ctl + t and had a new tab open, I would be a rich man.
 
The worst part is when what you accidentally hit you have no clue about and trying to undo it can drive you crazy

yep! that's what happened last night and was the reason for this thread! I just couldn't work out why everything had gone tiny on this forum. Everything else looked normal but it just stood out more here than on facebook for instance. 
 
I wish someone would design a computer for idiots ... something really simplified, no jargon, no stupid 'hot keys' or any messing. Just keep it simple. To this day I still don't have a clue what cookies are ... to me cookies belong in the kitchen in a jar and are preferably choc chip. And as for streaming ... well to be that's a smaller version of a river and it's what your nose does when you've got a cold.

Oh come on, it is not all that bad!
 
Think of it as "cookie crumbs", little bits of data left behind. When you see the crumbs, you can identify the cookie.
 
When you visit TFF, you are already logged in right? The cookie holds that data and notifies the server who you are (it shows the crumbs I guess you could say).  If you delete the cookies, you will have to log in again as the browser will not know who you are...
