What Has Happened?

Try feeding Squid, Mussels, Brine, Whole Cockles or Gamma Fish

But tbh, more importantly you need to upgrade you lights very very soon ie Days not weeks, as the nem will simply not last

I aint a Nem Expert by any stretch of the imagination & tbh would only concider getting a Nem when I have done loads of reasearch on these animals & fell comfortable that I could keep these extremelly long lived animals a decent home

Remember it isnt just lighting that you need to concider, Wtare quality is paramount as is Current & Feeding

Also Clowns are pickiy about the Nem's they host in

Hopefully you dont have powerheads in your Tank

A dying Nem could/will nuke your tannk & could end up killing all your other livestock, if your Nem is dying it will quickly turn into a lump of 'jelly' is teh only word I can think of, if this happens you really need to remove it ASAP.

Watch out for the sudden increase in size, as well as wandering the nems tend to inflate and 'jump' to try and float off to a better part of the reef.

But of course it may just be feeling happy and you have not seen it at it's orignal size.

good luck.

Hey guys!

It's all very strange....It deffinatley isn't dead!

It's grown to double it's size at the moment and moved to the corner of the tank. The clarki clown still loves it, I don't beleive it's 100% as it should be but certianly been worse!

I may look at getting the T5 lights tomorrow (full stand) but not sure its wise as the water in my tank is very high so may get some jumping fish?!

You will have to pack the T5's in there to get enought light to keep the Nem alive

Remeber to acclimitise you livestcok to teh new lighting

What do you mean by that mate?

Should I totally loose the tubes and go with the whole T5 set up? Also in total what wattage should I be looking at?

Last but not least, what do I do about the water level, currently it's very high but the lid is secure so thats no prob but if i got for the T5 unit you don't get a lid!

I was thinking of getting a bigger glass tank (just glass) and using that.

I just worry the fish will jump out as will the crabs, snails and shrimp climbing out!

1st - you inverst will be fine, it is very rare that any inverts actually leave the tank

What fish do you have that you are concerned about going carpet surfing ??

As I say I aint a Nem expert but IMO you should be looking at a minimum of 150w, T5's are known to run very hot, hence why I moved away from them & you can pick up Halides for almost the same price as a Bank of T5's

Confussed regarding your water level, I have no lid, my water usually sits about 2 -3" from the lid

Light Acclimitising

Just like acclimitising livestock to your water you must acclimitise corals, Nems etc to higher output lighting by either shortening the Lighting period or like I did with my Pendant Halide, I started with my Halides 14" above the water level & over 10 days lowered it to 8" where it currently sits

Persoanlly I think Halides would be best

as far as lighting goes i have a satelllite powercompact W2-65 smartpac bulbs and ive been keeping a rose bubble tip very happy and healthy for about 6 months now. pretty decent price at around $110.00

malus aint as light dependant as others like carpets and bubble tips but t5 is defo the min with all nems. try feeding them cockle always perks them up at work. i personally am against nems in tanks 15years wild, 2 years tank thats too much of a short life in tanks for me.

bite the bullet and get some MH :D

Not everybody likes Metal Halide, I personnally don't think it's the best. It certainly is the strongest, though.
But I don't really think T-5's are that special either, just upgraded flourescents, and PC's are actually a little stronger, watt for watt. My choices, if I had limited money, on a 20'' deep tank:
  1. Power Compact
  2. Metal Halide
  3. T-5 HO
But on a tank that was any deeper than 24'', I would get Metal Halide.

P.S., to accentuate Die Grinder's point about the tank life being shorter, do we even know what an Anemone's life span is in the wild? I heard that it could be centuries... or even infinite, as long as they are not killed.
