....be bred, raised and grown out in a tank of size 12-15 inches?

fancied tryin to breed bettas but they would not manage in a tank that size to grow out as i think they have a lot of babies.

would like a breeding project. would consider livebearers but woul like to try an egglayer as i had guppies and swordtails in my own tank that bred and lets face it its not much of a challenge ha.

any suggestions and tips?

oh. if the fish needed to be kept in my community then that ok too

love bearers (endlers) would probably be best as they fetch monies because they are hard to come by at the moment

i was thinking them tbh but would like an egglayer and they would soon overun the small tank wouldnt they?

that tank is too small for cories, unless you get pygmy cories. but i doubt they will breed in a tank that size.

you can easily breed shrimps

There are a number of shrimps that aren't sold in Europe that you could breed relatively easily and make a killing problem is getting them over. Ninja shrimps would be a good one its a colour changing bee shrimp only found in japan and china atm but popular.

do you know where i could find a breeding pair of them?

what is the volume of the tank?!

you could breed shrimps but it may be a bit on the small side for endlers, if you put 10 cherry shrimp in their you will have a thriving shrimp population in a few months

i dont have the tank yet so do not know the volume and that the only length tank that i could have...at a push 18inches but 15 on the safe side?

i think shrimps maybe somethin to consider!! would like some fish though but if cant find any i may go for the cherry shrimp or endler?

any other suggestions welcome!!

According to petshrimps profile on ninja shrimp (HERE), their young require brackish/seawater to grow, so I would discount them.

Shrimp would probably be your best bet however, even the common and easy to breed species such as cherry and tiger shrimp fetch in around £1 each when sold to other hobbiests - might be good to start with these and see how you do.

Other shrimp fetch a higher price such as crystal red shrimp, and depending on grading can go from anywhere from a couple of pounds to £20 in shops. Blue tiger shrimps also demand big money simply because they arn't readily available in the UK, but breed just like normal tiger shrimp. For blue tigers you're looking at £10 a shrimp I would say, the downside is you will probably have to import from germany, so quite high start up costs but should pay for itself when they get breeding.

That is the main reason why the main species are not bred outside of japan the majority of imports are females, males are rare you would need to get in contact with someone in the trade
