Goldfish in a tropical fishtank without a heater!!!!!
Unusual.( It must be hot out there!)
Have you viewed the past and present posts concerning this very topic?
If not you may find it very useful to have a look. I know that it is time consuming and you want an immediate answer, but believe me the time you spend doing a little research will pay dividends.
I'm presuming that you current tank has been cycled and has been up and running for a while??
There is plenty of information contained within the pages of this site.

Do you know your goldfish grow big and need lots of space? A 2 foot just won't do for even one, much less 4. I'm not sure about the exact minimum size tank for goldfish, but it's big. A 55 gal at least.

Might consider that before thinking about more fish?

the tanks bumble bee is talking about are only temporary tanks until we get a bigger tank, her fish are only small at the moment and there will be plenty of room in the two footer for at least a little while while they are growing. the tank they're in at the moment is cycled and the two footer will be cycled properly as well. As for the heat issue, well, Australia isn't known as the Sunburnt country fer nothin' lmao as fer my idea on "unusual/eye catching fish" babe, well, ya already know what I'm gunna say.....GET SOME EELS! lmao :p :hey:

Dragonscales & Bumblebee,

If you are from Ballarat, I'm pretty sure it's starting to get cool down there because it is definately dropping in temp here in sydney. Better get that heater soon!

Re: eye-catching fish.

IMO - For your current tank, (once you get the goldfish their own tank) i'd suggest some cories. I got some julii cories at my LFS but they are hard to come by, i can't seem to grab a couple more.

However, I agree with Morrgan that you should think about accomodating for your existing goldfish before looking to add new fish.

ok guys i'v had these fish for over 6 months and their no bigger then 5cm atm... i am fully aware they grow and as soon as we build our place we will have full size wall tanks that will be spread around the house... happy family fish tanks.

i am one to never be cruel to animals fish included so please dont tell me i dont care for my fish.....ballarat Has been hot for awhile now... and i Can feel the cold coming in... thats why in the next week i will have a brand new sexy warm heater for my lil friends...

in the big tank they will disappear i thought if i put in other slow growing fish it will be good timing for when we build........

Ballarat's been on about a 4-5 year drought in recent times and the temperature here's been higher and higher every year for the same months as has been recorded in a long, long while. Only the last week or two has the temp been getting cooler here, not that it matters much as the heater's on the way ;)

as for the julii cories, they're pretty common down here. Same ol', Same ol' lol thanks anyhow though

is this an aussie thread or something?
anyway im from Sydney, and its hot- warm in the day but its bloody cold at night, betta get that heater..
oh and how big does your cockatoo dwarf grow?
looks pretty interesting.....

ok guys got the heater AND...... the cockatoo grows to around 7-9 cms

cant wait i'm getting Wolverine (thats his name) a lil miss this week...... :)

Get an African Butterfly Fish for your surface dweller specie! They're so cool - kind of like someone spliced the genes of an Arowana and a Zebrafish. It will be extremely fun to watch during feeding time.
