hi all im going to start puting fish in my 230 liter tank it has live rock and live sand has been running for eight weeks. what fish are good to start with i know damsel is a good first fish but as thay are agressive so would i able to have diffrent types of fish with them. thankyou

I would stay well clear of damsels in general - they are a pain.

you could try a pair of clowns (technically still damsels I suppose), or maybe chromis.

Something relatively cheap and hardy.

i vote for a pair of clowns!

though i suppose it depends on what other fish you want down the line.

i say chromis, get like 5 of them, watch them school, cool stuff. plus any shy fish u ever get down the line, chromis will help fish come out and be more active.

and their reef safe (as well are clowns of course)

False percula clownfish or chromis. Both are tough as old boots really and friendly. Just remember, some fish can't be kept with other species or ones of the same species. Some will eat corals, some won't. If its a nice communal reef tank you want, then false clowns and chromis are a good start. :good:

agree with AK, but if you like angelfish and dont want a reef, there are some great dwarf angels for you :)

although dwarf angels should really go in towards the end of stocking.

by the way, that size of tank isn't big enough for "normal" angels - and isn't ideal for tangs either.
