Hello,

I currently have a Fluval 3 Plus in my 70L tank but I'm upgrading to a 120L tank.

What filter should I get?

Undergravel Filter?
External such as Fluval 204? (I see quite a few people use this one on similar size tanks)

I think I will need quite a powerful filter as I have a plec (poo machine!), but I would also not want a very strong current in the tank.

EDIT: External filters seem to the best option, but which brand and what size should I go for?

Upon reading posts it seems that they Eheim is a better filter?

I've found a good deal on an Eheim 2213 Classic External Filter on ebay - is this better than the Fluval 204?

I really need an answer ASAP please so that I can get the right bargain!

Thanks for your reply :)

So is "Eheim 2213 Classic External Filter." the correct one for my size tank?

It looks a bit plain is it easy to put all the filter media in etc?

Should be fine on a tank that size.

Easy to put the media in, you just crack open the top and put it in. Also, cos it has the inlet at the bottome and the outlet at the top there is no media avoidance.

Just make sure you get the stop valve quick connectors for the pipes. (my xsecond hand one didn't so maintenance was a pain until I got them).

Fozzy> German engineering? I seem to recall that BMW and Mercedes are generally found at the bottom of reliability surveys nowadays with the Japanese cars running forever. Maybe we should start advocating Boyu filters ;)
