Hubby and I were thinking about taking 2 aquariums and hooking them together with a tube. Then we were going to either fill them both with the same kind of fish.

I know we will have to be careful cutting the glass and then finding an adhesive that won't hurt the fish even though it will be on the outside of the tanks hopefully. I was thinking though we could use a clear tube that would definitely be big enough for the biggest fish to swim through so I can make sure it gets cleaned to with some kind of scrubber. Do you think this would be possible?

I have seen something like that at the London aquarium. Two large tanks were connected by two tubes. The whole thing was made of acrylic.

Yes, definitely doable, but I suggest using acrylic. There are specific glues that will bond acrylic to acrylic very well and leave no trace. It will be much easier to drill too. You'll find it difficult to find a glue that will bond acrylic to glass as well.

I would say its perfectly do-able. Maybe you cod use a glass tube and obviously cut a hole in the fish, inswet the tube and secure in place with silicon which they use to make tanks in the first place. Not sure how easy/difficult it will be to drill holes in glass but hey, like the soundnif it though!!

these types of tank exist - so yes it is possible. I've also seen tanks linked by a water 'bridge'. Have a search on youtube, there's a few on there that might give you some ideas.

the bridge might actually be easier to do.

this is the sort of thing - although I've seen better examples

A bridge would probably be easier and then if we have to move again make the transfer of aquariums easier to. I will have to see what the hubby has to say. Plus I will have to find a way to make cleaning the bridge easy and make sure it won't overflow the aquariums

I think this is a cool idea. But agree that a bridge concept would be easier to implement and maintain - assuming you could come up with a way to have the bridge rest on the two tanks rather than gluing it. Then you just detach the bridge for cleaning and use a siphon tube to refill it.
