"In addition, the fish mentioned were only placed in the fish bowls for the time in the pool and were put back in their normal filtered aquariums for everyday living (except for the betas)."
Directly off the homepage. So they're seriously saying that a betta can live in a 3/4 gallon bowl. I suppose we should get used to this, but I dont' think I ever will.
There is NO airspace in that bowl whatsoever, so the betta will be in great distress and unable to breathe during the time in the pool. I keep some of mine in big 2 gallon jars which curve in slightly at the top. I had one rescue who had impaired vision (something growing over both corneas). He was pressed up against the side when I first put him in and it took him a few seconds to find the breathing space and realise he was ok - seconds of utter panic. I can imagine what it must be like to be stuck in a container with no breathing space.
On top of that - to be in a transparent container, bobbing around in a swimming pool with humans moving all around you and no cover? One of the most stressful experiences I can imagine.
All in all - a particularly cruel toy, to rival the iPond and the vase that has technicolour flashing lights at the bottom and an airstone in the middle.
