I also bury mine in my plants, tiny fish in the house plants, and bigger fish out in the garden. I also water my plants with water from when I clean my tankd every week. I must say all of my plants are in better shape now then before I ever owned fish. :*)

Usually give them the "royal flush" down the toilet though sometimes they get trashed. Luckily I haven't had a death in a while.
*knocks on wood*

Dead fish get wrapped in paper towel and put into the freezer in a special bag (where all dead fish go)....when I have enough, or the BF nages me about it, I cremate them all together

That doesn't count the ones that escape from the tank and end up as fish jerky....they go straight into the bin

I bury all of my fish, just as I do my pets. Though if the ground is frozen, I will incinerate them. However, being fish, and thus smelly while decomposing, I powder them with a very strong "spicey" smelling incense; it seems to discourage animals as most do not like hot foods. I usually scatter flowers over the body before adding dirt, and generally put some kind of rock on it for the first week so skunks don't dig them up and eat them.

For my more expansize fish, I will prolly bury. For my cheap white clouds - either give em away, or flush em'. I'm hoping my Cichilads will eat the white clouds though.....

I wouldn't flush my dog so I don't flush my fish. ;) It's just a personal thing...

Any bodies are put in a matchbox if they're small and a shoebox if they're bigger and buried in the garden. Then I put a flower on the grave.

EDIT: Ethos, what do you mean by 'give them away'?

I fear you may soon judging by your stocking levels :/

I checked out your profile because your avatar looked interesting.

Correct me if I'm wrong -

You have a TropiQuarium 88 - 34 US Gallon (130 litre)
Containing -

16 Cardinal Tetra
8 Neon Tetra
3 Corydorus
3 Clown Loaches
3 Sucking Loaches
2 Sail Fin Plecs
2 Golden Angels
1 Ancistrus
1 Discus (Used to be 5, but, he killed the other 4!!)
1 Red Tailed Shark (He's stopped the discus bullying the other fish)

I realise you may be new to this hobby but you need to know a few basics i.e. stocking levels - a tank of your size will safely house a maximum of 62" fish assuming your tank is mature (+6 months), you have good filtration and carry out regular maintenance i.e. 25% weekly water changes. When buying fish you should bear in mind their fully grown adult size. I have roughly calculated that your current stocking level is 120 inches when your fish are near fully grown (I have actually been quite conservative). Needless to say you are way overstocked. Keeping 5 Discus is asking for trouble in that size tank. Clown Loaches can grow up to 12". Sailfin Plecs - up to 18" - I could go on but hopefully you get the message.

Please do more research before buying and adding fish to your tank. You may be ok at the moment because they are juveniles, but they will grow and cause problems for you in the future. Post any questions you may have in the Beginners Section.

I was going to PM this post but I feel that the content may be useful to other new fishkeepers. Note to more experienced members - no flaming please.

Mine used to go down the loo but the last time this topic came up I learned that it was not the best means of disposal so I now chuck them in the bin
