What do you do during power failures?

Just wondering if anyone does anything special to protect their investments in all their gorgeous fish, tank plants/anemones etc. in case of a power outage due to a storm or other natural disaster? It's concerned me on and off, my fish are so dependent on me for their entire existence. Does anybody have like a generator as a power backup? Really am wondering what's do-able so they survive if power lines go down. Thanks for all answers!

i always have a generator at hand just incase. only had to use it once so far though.

That's why I don't use heaters unless I really have to.

5KW generator here. Runs the tanks, a couple referigerators, sump pump, and furnace. You can get a smaller one just to run the tanks for a couple hundred bucks.
