Instead of having tons of threads saying, compare the two filters here... Lets just have a poll where people can access this to see the general consensus. They will read this and say, well "this" filter has the most fans, this one is second most, I'll try to find one of these two makes.

Ehiem all the way.

But one thing about this poll, theres quite a few brands missing, so it's not exactly a complete census :/

I agree. Also, depending on the model, people's views and experiences may differ hugely. For example, I'd say eheim is top notch with the pro line but the ecco line is a bit disappointing (in my view) so, it's hard to generalise it all into a brand name.

Ah, so thats two major flaws.

Maybe it's just best to stick to wolfs rating thred, it's alot more effective.

Eheim, but I always add a rider these days, the ECCO range are not the same build quality as the rest.

Really? I did't see any other brands! If anyone could list them I can always make a new poll. And then Since Eheim has multiple lines I can split it up! I'm sure woldfs is better but sometimes lazy people like myself will just like to see poll stats :p

eheim all the way notice fluval doesnt have 1 vote yet!

can't you specify abit more to the range and the price? obviously looking at the price of the ehiem pro's they very well should be the best :)

for example a value for money poll may be abit more helpful aswell. e.g ehiem pro 3 is like 250 pounds? and an tertra tec ex 1200 is about 80 pounds. i wouldn't expect the tetra tec to be better at all like i wouldn't expect a ferrari to be the same as a mercedes.

even the not so good eheim ecco and classic models are 10x better than any fluwho

your right their are other makes on the market right now but will they be around when you need spares in a few years

if you want to cut costs on the kidney of your tank buy a fluwho but like any bad kidney it will need replaceing

buy a eheim and it will last for ever

anyone who has been keeping fish for years KNOWS eheim are the best

the only people who think fluwho are any good are the people who made the mistake of buying one or some shop keeper trying to sell you one

So how would you rate the TetraTec Ex range?

How many of you have actually used one?

'EHIEM' are prob the royals royce of canister filters, and price-wise its about the same..
however IMHO 'TETRATEC' seems to be the best value for money.

whats the point in owning a filter most shops have never hurd of it makes it very hard to get parts if you need them ot replacment sponges

I have to say that although the Eheim classics are basic compared to the more advanced Pro models they are perfectly good filters that will run forever and do the job you want them to, if you want an all singing and dancing filter that self primes and tells you when it needs cleaning then the classics are not for you but if you just want a reliable filter that can be stuffed with any media you like and doesnt cost the earth then there is nothing wrong with classics.
