What Can I Keep With Angels

If it were me, I would put two or three angels in there, a school of neon or cardinal tetras and a pair of blue or Bolivian rams. They say that the angels will eat the tetras but mine are doing fine. I got the small tetras when the angels were juvies and now the tetras are big enough to not be eaten. An altum can get to 12 inches in height but I doubt a scalare would. Maybe 6 to 8 inches. I've heard that if you put a big enough school of tiger barbs they won't bother anybody but I wouldn't chance it, and I feel that guaramis can be mean.
My 75g has angels, blue rams, neon tetras, otos, and cories. Everyone just does their own thing. There's an occasional nip here and there during feeding time but that is about it.
Angels need about 10 to 20 gallons per fish but the smaller fish like the neons can share some of that space

Three Spot Gouramis are agressive sods, and if you have more than 1 male they will kill eachother.

They will also kill any other types of gourami added.

Ok, so better forget adding different gouramis for now huh? I do have 13 neon tetras in another tank that I'd be glad to put in there. Would the blue gouramis be ok with other varieties of female in there? I don't think they're hard to sex so I could make sure just one male.

Can I keep tiger barbs with one small African cichlid?

If I put my neons in there and my tiger barbs with that cichlid then I'd have a free 30 gallon for a tiger Oscar which would be cool. Btw can I keep tiger barbs with an Oscar? I dont think so but not sure

Oscars in a 30g is as irresponsible as it gets, 75-100 gallon is needed for a solo Oscar.

Also you can't keep neons with African cichlids or Three spot Gouramis.....probably not T-Barbs either.

Oh I keep them with the t barbs now. What is the issue with the neons and three spots?

3 spots will eat neons, africans need different water chemistry and most will eat Neons, Oscars will eat Tiger Barbs and Neons and you dont have a tank big enough for a Oscar.

Right. I never considered neons with the African cichlid or Oscar. Good to know that the gourami would eat them though.

Have you already got the 3 spot gourami's? If not then i would ditch that idea altogether. I would go with the 3 Angels, the neons and the Cory's. Gourami's as mentioned can be very aggressive, even worse than some cichlids from my experience. If wanting gourami's then look at some sparkling gourami's, a very attractive smaller variety.

An Oscar would be fine in a 30g tank for about a month. lol. They grow almost whilst you watch them if fed well. Then you're stuck with an O with no where to go...

Ack! Yes, please read up on the habitat needs of an oscar. A 30 gallon will only house a juv. oscar for a couple of months. They grow fast, very big and are messy so need superior filtration. I do have to say this thread shifted suddenly. You might want to start a new thread.

I have a pair of angels in a 47 gal show tank with two blood parrots, some neons, platys, danios, and a pleco... you can really get away with most community fish when it comes to angels, but you have to have enough coverage in the tank so sparring doesn't occur. The only fish in my tank that gets chased is my smaller of the two blood parrots, but he does very well. My two angels have spawned before and they seem to do great with my current setup. Just make sure you have enough plants and cave-like decor, and like I said, just about any peaceful community fish can be put with them.
