What breather bags should i get for shipping fish?

You wouldn’t include that in the shipping cost, you could include it in the overall cost of the fish, but shipping is calculated by the site based off of package weight and location, so the supplies wouldn’t be factored into it

It’s a lot to take in, you’re fine :)
Ok wait. So ebay can assume it's 20 and then it's 30... What do I do?

🤯

You can add materials cost to the actual shipping cost . Or as JB said you can include materials in the price of the fish. Use other listings as a guideline to see what works best.
Take two aspirin and come back here in the morning

Why would I have to refund shipping? That doesn't make any sense...
While I know a lot of you guys here have wayyyy more experience on this sort of thing I feel like some of this info isn't adding up... Idk... I'm going nuts though right now.
I just need sleep and then I meet to do more research plus whatever else...
If you refund the order, it’s the whole cost. You eat the cost of the shipping. For example, I have a live arrival guarantee for my plants, if they arrive dead, the customer is refunded. Which means I lose the cost of the plants, shipping materials, and shipping cost.

You add the 10 into the price of the fish. So the fish (random example) cost $5. The shipping is $30, and the supplies are $5. You would write the price of the fish as $10, and the shipping as the calculated $30

If you ship priority instead of of overnight, you will be very worried that fish won't arrive alive. Better to do overnight shipping...you'll sleep better

Because your product (fish) didn't arrive in a usable state (alive)

Ah ok... Makes sense.
I've been cutting Styrofoam to see what works best. Spoiler alert it all ended in a mess 😂

That does seem fair and all BUT there are live fish listings on ebay where it says that shipping won't be refunded but the cost of the fish will be.
Its an iffy situation I suppose for the buyer and the seller.

I was curious and did a USPS shipping calculator with a box weight of 5lbs going from NC to somewhere in CA... The total was $78 plus change... Yikes!
Maybe stick to the east coast or have it to where there is no DOA insurance for places beyond a certain state?
That way if someone orders they can get it but I can't make any guarantee they will survive that journey...
Or just cancel an order like @JuiceBox52 said and tell them I don't ship to that state...
I have no fricking clue on how some eBay sellers have such cheap shipping! Like HOW

I think volume shippers (commercial shippers) may get special (better) pricing from the carriers.

couldn't sleep..huh?
are there any fish clubs in your area...if there are, perhaps you could go to an event and sell them there...no shipping! Or maybe you could sell them on craigslist for pickup only ;)
also, see what local fish stores would offer you...maybe if you purchase the tank you want from them, they will make you a good deal.

Yah... Maybe. But I almost think private sellers find a way as well...

My mom hates Craigslist but she is open to it sometimes.
I may try selling them on there! But I just don't know if anyone around would buy 😑
There is ONE fish group near me based on Facebook. But Facebook doesn't allow selling live animals so nope

A lot of them say cheap shipping because they include some in the fish price and make less. For example I had “free” shipping on my plants, but I included the price in my item price, I charged $15 but only made about 3.50-5 because shipping and supplies were included in the price. Or my jewelry wire wrapped pieces, I charge 20-30 but only make about 4
