What are you doing today?

Always good when you have a group of kids that actually enjoy it... Cause otherwise... DISASTER
I dare say that if all else fails @WhistlingBadger can always resort to bribery ;)

.....the promise of a treat usually not only gets the kids to pay attention but to also join in......failing that "Behave or I tell your parents" usually works too

"Ok you all did so good have a great day!"

Kids: "Uhmm... You said we could have chocolate bar"

"You remembered!... And actually thought you would get a chocolate bar... Consider this a life lesson on scams and disappointments"

I've been trawling around town for the final few bits before the eldest kiddie starts her first year at primary school. We managed to find shoes and socks, plimsols and a couple more pinafore dresses but we've looking for a PE kit everywhere! We've just got the last 2 pairs of cycling shorts, now we're on the hunt for a plain white t-shirt....so generic and yet so elusive! 🥴 last stop -Tesco!

a discussion about bear safety. Welcome to Wyoming.

Nah, we're having too much fun to resort to bribery.

Today, one of our songs devolved into a discussion about bear safety. Welcome to Wyoming.
I envision a group of little kids singing like a choir, dancing across a field and beating the ^%^%$ out of an unsafe Wyoming bear.

I'm not saying that's what happened, but I'm not denying it, either...
(we do raise 'em tough here in the Rockies)

I plan on going out for breakfast with Mrs. Badger, then I'll probably shoot some arrows and get my knives and broadheads sharpened up. Archery hunting season starts next week, but my foot's crippled up so I don't know if I'll get to hunt this fall. :( This severely bums me out because a) I actually drew a really good elk tag this year and I think this might be my year to finally kill one with a bow, and b) has anyone looked at meat prices lately? Sure would love to fill the freezer with some good, healthy meat for my family.

I was diagnosed in July (after six months of rather severe foot pain) with chronic inflammation of the peroneus longus tendon (one of the tendons that connects the arch of the foot with the calf muscles) I've been in a boot cast for about five weeks, but it doesn't seem to be getting better. I haven't been on a run since Christmas, which also bums me out. You've probably heard the saying: Some people have psychiatrists; I have running shoes. Definitely true for me. I've kept in decent shape biking, swimming, and doing some strength work, but walking without the cast still hurts my foot. So I'm not sure how hunting is going to play out.

But...it's still fun getting out to the shop and fiddling around with my gear. Today I figure to get a shaving edge on my knives and broadheads. Might as well have my gear ready to go, just in case my body rallies.

Have a great weekend, friends! Get outside and do something amazing, then tell me about it! :)

I WAS going to try and get the lawn done this morning, but it's been raining here EVERY DAY the last week or so...rained overnight, standing water in the yard, again...my grass is going to be up to my knees any day now

Have a few projects to take care of at my mom's house, guess I'll get those done instead

@WhistlingBadger I used to coach softball, and one time decided I could fill in for a missing catcher while one of the national team pitchers was doing her winter work. It was cold in the gym. I went into the crouch without warming up and something happened. Man, did it happen. I denied it and walked around in serious pain for weeks and weeks, then got it checked. By then, it was the ankle, the arch - everything was inflamed.
It takes time, more than any human can accept, but it does improve. It is one slow injury, even factoring in that I am not as young as I believe I should be.
I have to be very cautious though. I can still feel it as a weak point, but without pain. We're talking 5 years later, after it being trouble for 6-8 months.

Somewhere, there's an arch and archery joke in there, probably being made by an elk.

For me, there is a big festival up at the end of my street, and the cars are rolling by in a steady stream. We're painting. And not good painting, like the backs of tanks. Nope. Walls.
