What Are Some Good Hardy Fish?

so your asking what kind of fish will survive a fish in cycle.... i would say dont put fish in your tank with high ammonia readings.. it would be like you moving into the toilet for awhile... not recomended

How are you planning on cycling your tank?

If you want to do a fish-in cycle, I would highly suggest you do so with either Rosy Red Minnows, or Fathead Minnows!

These fish are extremely hardy, as I have seen them survive for weeks in ammonia that was above 5 ppm.

Don't ask where I saw this...lol... :shifty:

i would personally say,' DONT DO IT!!!!!'.

persist with a fishless cycle because it is fairer on the fish

Agree^^

A fishless cycle is the way to go!

And it is way easier as well, not doing water changes 24/7.

If you do decide to fish in cycle then you should be prepared to do all the water tests and changes necessary so that your fish won't be in "high levels of ammonia".
Fish in cycle is one thing, chucking a few fish in the tank and hoping they survive is another.
Fish in cycles aren't all bad... *IF* you do it properly - and that equals a lot of hard work!

To answer your original question:

Zebra Danios
Glowlight Tetras
Platies

Are all considered hardy. However, please do a fishless cycle. Link in sig.

:good:

Yup will be doing a fishless cycle, but i was thinking of getting these hardy fish for after the cycle has completed (about 3-4weeks) to fully mature the tank

An established tank takes around 6 months after it has been completely cycled.
