What are some fun quirks of your fish?

Just witnessed a moth fall into my female guppy tank.

Remind me to never get on the wrong side of them. Ever.

I just witnessed a brutal rugby game where the girls were dragging the moth around the tank biting off bits and pieces slowly. The poor moth didn’t even die right away.
Predators gonna be predators.

Even the most placid fish has the ability to become a rampant Jaws so when the opportunity presents itself, you just do not want to be that moth (or any other biteable bug) ;)

Not sure if you knew this but the thread title says this is for FUN quirks 😂
I get op privileges 😘

But here’s some cute pictures of my emerald cories camping out on my plants as an apology

My keyhole cichlids like to flip over the dried leaves on their aquarium floor to peck at the algae on the underneath. It makes me laugh because they are still quite small and the leaves are about 3x the size of them 😂

my betta is the laziest guy ever. he doesn't even bother to eat the food unless i put it right in his face or signal where the food is
My newest male betta is the laziest bag of bones this side of the Mississippi. He perks up whenever someone walks by but as soon as he thinks your not paying attention he settles back down on the pebbles and plants and I’m trying to quickly buy a bunch more plants so he has something to actually sleep on. My dads male betta is the same exact away. Our female betta who passed was a raging inferno by comparison park who would stare you down and hound your finger if you tapped the glass

I don't know, my fish could care less if I was a bug, they still come out to get a nibble when my arm goes in the tank. Must be all that Rapashi Soylent Green, turning them on to the flavor of people!🤣

It is surprising how hard an Emperor tetra can bite with that bitty mouth. It is like getting snapped with a rubber band! I expect that from the big fish but the first time I was "taste tested" by the shoal of emperors, I about hit the ceiling.

Most fish are scared of the gravel vacuum from what I've seen, but not my male gudgeon... He comes out to see what's being sucked up and will actually peck the tube because of all the little moving particles lol... I have to scare them off myself because they get too close to the opening of the tube...

Hold the tubing part in your other hand so if the worst happens you can squeeze it flat in an instant to stop the water flow.

My snails will go above the water. They are Ramshorn and an unknown snail, but not one that lays eggs above the water line. They make me put them back in the water lol.

My angelfish do that.

A couple summers ago I started culturing and feeding wingless fruit flies for my Golden Wonder Killies. One or two always manage to get out of the water and onto the underside of the glass top. A couple of the fish will stand perfectly vertical , tail down and look up at those flies . When they get situated they shoot straight up like rockets and pick off a fly. Expert marksmen.
