What Are My German Blue Rams Doing?

what are the current stats, how long have then rams been in?

What about NO2, NO3 and NH3/NH4 (Nitrite, Nitrate and Ammonia). Is it a liquid test kit or test strips?

API Test Kit (Minx helped me cycle my tank)

Ammonia - 0ppm
Nitrite - 0ppm
Nitrate - 20ppm

So if Bogwood is a no could you add some aquarium peat to the filter. Temp needs to be 24-26C, gH 4-12, pH 6-7. If your ram falls sick, even though you look after them well and they looks fine, it is nearly always due to incorrect water compostion. Since it is usaualy water which is too hard which causes the problems (rocks increase the gH of the water), a way in which to lower the gH is to add some petrified wood (bogwood) and a layer of peat to the filter.

just lower it a little, what about the gH of the water? Can you add smoe peat to the filter

Good hopefully your Rams will live for 3-5 years then! Do buy yourself a gH test if you dont have one, otherwise the Rams will perish if you keep them in high gH water!

Just spoke to my dad, and he is giving me his two jewels for the 95ltr (1m 1f medium sized) for my two GBRs in his 120ltr, then he will add some more fish in a while - his tank is mature etc. wood, plants etc etc.

You think this is for the best?
