Hi

The thing is i have a tank with 2 male swordtails, 2 male and 2 female platties and 2 female mollies. i read the cross breeding thread and it has answered the questions about what they may be but what i want to know now is:

how long does it take for the fry to grow up and be distiguishable as male female and breed and how long it will take for them to safley go in the tank with the rest and not be classed as fry anymore

When your baby fish have grown to about one inch which will take between two and four months you can release them back into the aquarium with other fish(Most livebearers mature at an average of 4 months so after 4 months they can have their own babies.). I am not sure when you can tell if they are male and female it kinda depends on your fish, but maybe at the end of four weeks or maybe sooner or later I have heard. :)

thanks for the help :D but i cannot believe it will take 3-4 months that is ages :S  i cannot believe it. o well worth the wait i suppose. thanks
