Right guys im well lost now. As u know i lost several fish for some unknown reason:( I added 2 new angel fish to my tank. Done the usual light off add bag. Leave then add water several times after an hour add fish stuff.

after a day i have lost both angel fish and 2 Zebra Danio. I expected the 2 Danios as they didn't fully recover from my last problem.

Left in my tank are 5 Bronze Corys 2 Zebra danios and 2 Bristle nose. I notice the bristlenose are acting strange as they are normally on the wood and if they are on the glass they dart when they see me. But last few days they wont get off the glass even when they see me. They dart to the top get air come back down.

I know there was definatly something in the water as when i done my water change before the fish died. i had loads of snails all come to the top of the tank.

Below are my tests
P.H. 7.0
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 5.0
K.H 3
G.H 3
Temp 24/74

I have done my water changes I dont know what else to do now. I don't want to put any more fish to sleep :(

Do you have a good surface current? Fish and snails getting air from the top suggests the water is lacking in oxygen.

it could be that there is just not enough oxygen in your water for the fish to live happy... is the filter making little waves on the top of the water? do you have an airstone?

i think that it might be it because when my filter got stuck it did not make any waves on the top of the water and my pleco started going up for air... i have seen snails in tanks just being on the top because they do not have enough oxygen

Yeah my filter is set so its blowing bubbles in to the water and i usually have an air stone on in the day

oh ok well i am really out of ideas then... but i would keep up doing maybe a water change or even 2 a day and put something in the water that kills bad bactaria or maybe even fish tank salt just to kill anything that might be bad in the water... just keep up the water changes and i wish you best.. maybe some1 else will know what to do

Cheers mate ill start changing 20 littes twice daily for a week see how that goes

Would it be ok to add salt i have a box of api salt

yes it should tell you how mutch you should add...

Er, why do you want to add salt?! What do you think this will help with?

Do the frequent water changes and a really good substrate clean.

Shall i remove some sand rinse it and add back do same few days later with the rest

Sorry no expert on these kind of problems. But would doing an almost 100 percent water change to get any nastys out of the tank. I may be completly wrong just thought I'd throw it out there lol

You could easily do about 80% if you want. Clean, dechlorinated, temp and ph matched water won't do them any harm at all.

Just clean your sand like you normally would, I just meant be thorough not to take it all out.
