Hi, Just thought you experts may tell me some tips on how I can see my plec. Unlike my lfs where you see them as they have no hiding places I have him under a log all day long and if you enter the room at night. Only if you are me and half asleep on the sofa do you see him. Early morning he will come out and look for food but as the others eat it too he will not get much.
We call him Fluppalump "wish he'd come home for Christmas" or rather 'Come out and see us'. (yes after that song)
He is very beautiful to watch when he glides up for air. Not very often.
Any tips to get them out more or is it a bad type of Plec as they usually hide in muddy waters etc ?

float a slice of cucumber on the water. they usually come up after a while and suck on the center and in the morning, he'll still be there.

Hi, I have a Common/Sailfin Pleco and we see him a lot. If you haven't had him long perhaps he will come out more when he feels more confident. Mine hid for a while after we put him in a new tank. If I stand too close to the tank he goes and hides. They increase in confidence when you have had them a long time. I have read on this forum and others of people who can stroke their Pleco's face or tummy as they have got so tame. Hope yours settles down soon as they are very nice to watch. My tank is by my armchair and I watch it as much as the tv! :)

Yes I watch mine morning, noon, evening and if I am up in the night. Some of the other fish come and look as if they are saying hello. Well I want to think that. We have had him about seven months now but I have just transfered him in the last month to a much bigger tank. He seems to eat the cucumber as it is shredded by the morning. He also loves wafers and I do think he likes mosquito larva too. I say think as it could be the clown loaches that take it in there.
I do hope I can get him to settle although they do get large I am told they need less tank room as they do not move too much. Thanks for your replies.
