Hi Everyone,

My betta fish Cleo has alot of algae in his tank, so I went to the shop and bought a bit of floating water sprite.
This is my first time with Water Sprite, so I was just wondering , do you have to put in extra conditiner or anything like that? Oh, and also, if you have any good tips that would be great.
Just for reference, my tank is 27 degrees C., thats like 80 degrees F. (someone correct me if i'm wrong). It's in a 5 gallion tank with one betta fish, a heater, and a castle and no fishing sighn and stuff like that.

Thanks!
By the way, i'm Lia Rossi. :good:

water sprite will start shooting roots even when floating, if you plant it in gravel/sand, it will grow faster and greener, liquid ferts/co2 helps its growth. The growth-rate of this plant is v fast, specially if it settles in gravel etc.

Nice plant, one of my favs.

Edit: the avatar you see, its full of water sprites in my goldfish tank, that tank is broken down and I now have tank full of jungle-val.

I have killifish tank which has some water-sprite, waiting for it to take off.

I got 5 bunch of cuttings (without roots) , i let it float 2 days , then planted them individually in background. then used liquid ferts 3days/week. they also enjoy light and take off fast once settled.

Hi Everyone,

My betta fish Cleo has alot of algae in his tank,

What kind of algae? By knowing an ID, we can start to find the cause of the algae.
Blocking out light is a good idea though (what you have proposed with floating water sprite).
What is the wattage of the bulb in the 5gallon?

Um, I don't really know. Mabey you can help. It wasent like the water was green or anything, it was just growing on one side of my tank, and a plastic plant. It was green and looked kinda like hair.
thanks!

That's a CO2 issue then. (the amount of CO2 in the tank is not up to par with that current amount of light).
Either increase the CO2 (or liquid carbon dosage) or cut down the lighting whether that's direct sunlight, the intensity of the bulbs or duration of the lights.
You only want lights for 8hours a day, certainly no more than 10hours.
