We're having a lot of problems with our water being so hard and we're getting calcium deposits and rust stains everywhere. We have a water softener, but I've hesitated to use it because I'm unsure of whether this is bad for the fish. Any help here???

Also will it take the chlorine out too? I'm wondering if I'll still have to dechlorinate the water.

Also, if the softened water is not good for the fish (platty and beta) can I buy bottled spring water (not distilled) and use that.

I've posted this question before and gotten no answer, hoping that maybe it was just overlooked and I can get some answers. Thanks everyone.

I've never come across water softners, but if you're going to use spring water, make sure it's not carbonated!

I read somewhere that only one cup of carbonated water in a 200L tank is enough to spell doom
