I recently read something about these guys who knew what the quality of their water was just by looking at it and by how the bubbles behaved, do any of you guy's know anything of this or do you yourself think you know how your water is by looking at it?

I must admit i can usually tell if something isnt as it should be just from one glance at my tanks, usually it is more to do with fish behaviour and colour but bubbles on the surface that do not pop would be a sure sign of ammonia being present.

Well I didn't know that, will remember it! My tank is cycling at the moment and I noticed that bubbles didn't pop, thought it must be relevant. :)

Funny because I've told correctly too many times for it to be coincidence by the smell. Cant explain it, it just smells off/dirty. I'd still not rely on that sense tho, I'd be a fool to.

We all test the water anyway, you would be mad not to. I was just asking to see if anybody had a view on it thats all.
