Water changes

What would be good tank mates for a betta in a 11gallon tropical tank?
How often will I have to change the water?

You could get a trio of platies in there. Or perhaps even corydoras, which some people on this forum would prefer over livebearers.

Once a week or every other week should be fine unless your water chemistry is out of whack.

It might really depend on your Betta's character too. My Jack likes ruling his 5 gallon tank and doesn't like any other fish in there at all....I can just imagine what he'd do to some cories ....he even eats the snails if he can get the chance. Now our heating is on for winter I find evaporation a problem so I end up topping up his tank every 3 days or so, but also a water change every 10 days keeps him nice and clean. He views the siphon tube as an intruder too!
