Hi

I usually do 25% every two weeks, but am thinking of changing to 10% every week.

Am I ok in doing this? Will it be more\less beneficial to the fishies? What will the effect be?

Mainly doing it because I am obsessed with keeping the tank in tip top condition and I have an instinct the fishies will be happier.

Also when is a tank considered to be matured. My tank is around 7 months old. Is this significant?

Cheers
Andy.

i do 25% on a thursday and on a sunday i give the sand a quick hoovering as usualy by then crap had built up, not normaly more than one maybe one and a half buckets out on a sunday,

the befifits will be, lower nitrates in the tank not the most deadly of chemicals but it dosent hurt to keep them low,
also 10% every week will mean thet each actual water change will be less stress full as the temp drop won`t be so large

So water changes only effect nitrates, not ammonia etc. It is down to the bacteria in the tank to work on these?

Cheers for all your help.

Water changes will lower ammonia/nitrite but only if you have that present which you shouldn't. Your bacteria should be sorting that out. :good:
