I have thought of a marine tank but decided against it and also what would I do with my beloved (but sadly still silent) clown loaches???

Don't say buy another tank - I already own 5 (including Cher's hospital)!

Could you give me a couple that are like the ones in your signature!!!

Rainbow fish not very blue really.
Gourami ditto
sorry but there is a pic of a rainbowfish at the top of this page and it is the blue-est thing i have ever seen! and you can't say this gourami isnt blue, either:

Platies are livebearers, they are similar to guppies but not the same, different body shape and shorter fins. I can't imagine that one could be bright blue though, tehy're usually red/yellow/orange type colours.

I'm out of ideas now, sorry :D

Can't imagine a blue Platy huh? Well here's one of mine. She's called a Coral Blue color. She's actually much more blue than this now that she's really colored up...this is a pic of when I first got her.

Otherwise I think I'm all out of ideas for anything blue. I think we've exhausted all possibilities, besides marine fish. :/

I think the Blue Malawi Dolphin was a good suggestion - I'd love to get a couple. I don't know how active they are though.... but they is definitely blue! Oh, and the pic of your Blue Fish seems to me like it may be a juvenile or a female Malawi Dolphin! Hah, I'm good aren't I??? (No replies please, it's a rhetorical question) :p

Thanks, the blue malawi dolphin is nice - if I can find one that's not too snouty! :S
I've found it's proper name Cyrtocara moorii.

And the blue rainbow fish is nice (a blue rainbow - isn't that a contradiction in terms?) Does it have a proper name?

If anything occurs to anyone later please post!

You're too picky lol. :p BTW clutterydrawer I completely agree with your point. Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder. That's like the example of some people liking blood parrots, flowerhorns and other such hybrids that I personally find horrendously ugly and an atrocity to nature. But as they say, to each their own. I was way outta line there, it's just that I get kinda worked up when I hear someone call discus ugly :sly: . My fav fish :p

I'm surprised nobody has suggested the most common blue fish around..... standard neon tetras. I added a school of 11 to my 55g tank a few weeks ago and my wife absolutely loves them. They're a bright contrast to the green plants and reddish Harlequin Rasboras. Blue and red and absolutely gorgeous fish in a tank like that. Get a lot of them and watch them schooling... it's great! :D

Wolf - To quote from the Hitch-hikers Guide "So long and thanks for all the fish!!!!"

Lovely - they're exactly what I want, :D
bright blue,
active in the day,
easy to keep,
cheap to feed,
swim in perfect formation

if I can over look the fact that they're 2 dimensional.
Virtual fish - why didn't i think of that before? I'll have a CG blue fish on my computer instead.

Now what can I get for my tank..... has anyone got any got any suggestions for something in PURPLE?!

(Chkltcow - I already have a few tiny neon tetras and although they're lovely they're not entirely blue.)

Purple - Emporer tetras. The pics I've been able to find of them online haven't done justice to how nice they are in real life. I was amazed when I saw them for the first time last week!

Its ok:) I am just as bad really, if someone insults a fish that I like, I get really stroppy

Slightly off topic....but wouldn't it be cool to have a rainbow tank? i.e. a red fish, and orange fish, a yellow fish, a green fish, a blue fish and a purple fish.

Actually my loaches are a bit strange... I got them a snail for a treat because everyone says they love 'em but they won't touch it! Not even a nibble.
So I could risk blue snails... if they get eaten then I'll be happy that my loaches are "normal"!

(All my fish seem to be a bit odd - if you're read the saga of Cher! Perhaps it's transmitted by association with me? :fun: )

Also the blue platy looks much more colourful when viewed on a different monitor so he's back in the running!
