also how much live rock will i need for my 90 litre i was thinking bout 20lbs?

cheers 4 all the help

hello again

how many fish can a 90 litre tank have in there without overcrowding it the dimensions are 2.5ft long 1ft width 1.4ft hight

thanks in advanced

Depends on the fish... As with freshwater fish, you have to think about a fish's preferred location - bottom, middle or top of the water column, as well as bioload. I'd say that on average, you could have 4-5 fish if well picked.

cheers parker for this i tthought you could have more than that

what sor of test kit do u need i looked on ebay can only find strips to measure NITRITE, PHOSPHATE, AMMONIA, NITRATE, CALCIUM, GENERAL HARDNESS AND CARBONATE HARDNESS is there anything else u can use

thanks

+1 with Parker, 4 or 5 at the most.

As for test kits, I would not recommend any strip test kits as they are commonly inaccurate. Test kits from API or SERA are generally good.

I agree with Nemo, strips are generally inaccurate. Going back some years I used strips and lost half my fish one day. Test strips said all normal I took a sample to my LFS and my Ph was 7.4, hence dead fish. As for number of fish I agree with the others and pick wisely. If you go for fish that create a large bio load then this number will be reduced. To give you an idea I have a Blue Spot Unicorn Tang, a Koran Angel, a Banded Cat Shark and a Marine Betta in a 6x2x2.I have a skimmer for 1000 litres and 2 very large canister filters containing rock rubble not to mention 60kg of live rock and alot of power heads I am at max really.I know this will have to be enlarged in the future at which point I will upgrade everything and add a Volitons.

Like most things in life, you get what you pay for - unless you steal it

hello everyone

4-5 fish aint far off what i was hopeing for i wanted bout 6-7 but i can upgrade later in life

does anyone know know of a site where u can read up on fish and there sizes

thanks

There are many sites, You could start off on www.liveaquaria.com
They're an online fish supplies, but they are very reputable and have basic correct information as well the most common fish available on the market. For more in depth information I suggest searching around on here and going on www.wetwebmedia.com they are a very good source with an abundance of information.

I would probably tweak that list. Those fish are all going to be mid-top level fish, all competing for the same water space...and the damsel will be very territorial.

I would drop the chromis and add a lower level fish, like a goby. Also, if you like the look of the pseudochromis, you can go with the Royal Gramma basslet, which looks very similar but is much less terrritorial. The damselfish is going to be territorial also, so if you are set on that fish, add it last.

Or the orchid dotty back, again very pretty but quite piecefull and to many damsels will start to fight for space, this adds stress = disease plus it isn't as asthetic to look at with damaged fish. You can always look at inverts aswell to add interest and movement.

Maybe 2 clownfish? A pair of clownfish is much more interesting to watch together :)
I would skip the chromis and damsel in a tank your size. Damsel because of territorial issues and chromis because they to be a decent size and usually do better with multiples.

Like Parker said, the bicolor pseudos can be quite nasty, go for a royal gramma instead :good:

Dottybacks tend to have a little attitude as well, so may not be best.

Also, as Parker suggested, maybe look at some more bottom oriented fish. Fish like gobies and blennies :good:
