Hi i currently have a tropical tank but want to go marine how easy is it to change my current tank or should i just start from new?

Many thanks

Nicky

I am doing the same thing with a 24x12x12 tank.

-tank
-live rock
-heater
-lighting
-powerheads
-sand
-salt
-water
-hydrometer and thermometer

i am sure someone else will come and give you more information.

Good Luck

well all i need to buy is

Live rock
Lighting
sand
salt
hydrometer

So yes i would say its not easy but can be simple with the correct equipment. Read some of the pinned topics at the top of the 'Nano' forum. Helped me quite alot.

it should be relatively easy to swap your trop tank to marine. just make sure you give it a seriously good scrub and replace substrate.

personally a protein skimmer and decent water test kits are 2 things i wouldn't skimp on.
with live rock i think 1Kg per 2 gallons is a good number to start with.
debates as to if an RO unit is needed, saves money in the long run i guess.

only advice i would give is make sure you get a good lighting system and, if you are running an external filter, remove the media and use carbon and rowaphos, maybe some LR rubble.
