:good: I am with you James. Pet City or Petsmart of Pets r us or whatever it keeps calling itself!

well my lfs just leaves them in the bags they are delivered in and floats them on top of other tanks :grr: so i mdont know why alot of you complain

Personally, I think the cups are fine as long as they are a decent size like the one at the top of this thread. I have seen a lot more sick and dying fish from putting them in with other fish in the main tanks. I've seen many more bettas covered in fungus from being put in the shared water of the main tanks, then I have seen sick bettas in cups. Then there are the issues of them putting them in with fin nippers. I have actually seen a betta in a tank full of figure 8 puffers! Then in the next two or three tanks, they were covered in fungus, curled up in the corner dead. They have a much better chance of surviving in the cups because at least they are not being exposed to all the nasties in the shared water, and they don't have to worry about tankmates.

Well the larger cups are pointless because they only fill them halfway up. :grr:  At my walmarts. I have two here. Most of there tanks you can't see in because the wall is covered in algee.

My walmart has cts and vts.

I was at wal mart today, and they actually had some healthy fish. The bettas were in 1/3 gallon containers, which isn't horrible, and they looked clean.

All the goldfish tanks had writing on them that said ''goldfish are not for bowls or small tanks'' which was cool, except for the fact that all the goldfish were sick.

They had silver dollars that I'm pretty sure were piranhas. I've never seen 1'' silver dollars with teeth like that, and all the other fish in the tank were nipped 1/2 to death.

The Wal*Mart here has also been taking care to be at least semi-informative about the fish they sell. The wall is peppered with little pieces of paper, giving a little snippet of information on the fish, like how big they get, how big the tank must be, and what tankmates are suitable. They've done a better job of keeping the tanks clean, but unfortunately, they can't be on it all the time.
