Ok, I had posted this once already, but it got erased and then I had to re-register, so I hope someone can help me, and fast! I have a male krib that is very, very sick, and as a matter of fact it looks as though he is dying right now :( This started a few weeks ago when I noticed that he wasn't as active as usual, and he had his mouth open, like it was stuck open. THen he gradually got worse. I noticed that he wasn't eating, so on the advice of the LFS I treated my tank with CLOUT. 2 days later, I noticed 2 small holes on his head, so I thought he had a parasite, and I treated the tank with CopperSafe. They seemed to look a little better, but then a few days later it looked like the fles around his face had been eaten away. THen he became bloated. I tried treating the tank with an antibiotic, Kanacyn. I just went out and bought a small tank for a hospital tank, and some Marcyn-2 and moved him into that tonight, but I think it is too late since he is laying on his side now. I am really upset by this, as he and his mate were ny favorite fish, and I can't get Kribs where I kive now. Can someone at least tell me what has happened here and why I can't seem to find a treatment? I am attaching a picture of him.

He just died...but here is the picture anyway. I had to resize it so it would fit. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated since I just lost my favorite fish. :rip:

Thanks guys...I didn't post the H2o parameters because I was in such a hurry. I don' t remeber exactly, but they were just fine when this thing started. I do weekly H2O changes and I have 9 other fish in the tank, including his mate. NOne of the other fish appear sick. Is this disease contagious? I have read hery little about HITH and have read conflicting information. Also, does that disease typically paralyze their mouth or cause a problem with it so that it is kept open? SHould that have been my first indication that this was HITH head?

From the pic it kinda looks like he has cottonmouth or some kind of fungus of/in the mouth as well as HITH.. I cant remember for sure what its called.

I had the H2O checked a week ago and don't rememeber the readings (took to LFS) but I will re-do tomorrow and post them. As far as the tank goes, I have a 30 gallon with 1 glass cat, 2 Serpae Tetras, 3 Buenos Aires Tetras, 1 Tiger Barb, 2 Pristella Tetras 1 krib, and 1 plecostamus. They all appear to be doing well. Should I do anything for them since he was in that tank until yesterday? Is there any special way I should clean out my hospital tank after he was in it? Thanks again everyone. And thank you for the website Caz...it had some in fo that I had not seen yet.

OH NO!!! I was checking my fish, and it looks like now my female krib has a few tiny little holes on her face!!! Now what am I going to do??? I have this other tank that the male was in that I bought for a hospital tank, but I haven't cleaned it yet. Should I move her to it? Should I dump the water in it out and clean it first? Then treat with Metronidazole? Help me! By the way, thanks so much for all of your help so far....and I am running out to buy a test kit first thing tomorrow on my lunch break!
