Very Sad To Watch

angel mouse, thanks
Mystics, yeah vertical. it must suit them for their body shape
jesseoneill, good point but they weren't free swimming so their would be nothing i could have done to help them
Mystics, they will feed off their parents body's for the first few weeks after they become free swimming and i already hatch BBS for my Agassiz, Caucasoids and blue ram fry so I'm all set
to everyone the parents are fantastic, never leaving their eggs and i didn't want to disturb them so decided to turn off the external filter as the tank is a 400L Rio jewel and I'm sure the internal filter it has will be enough to keep the water quality up and the tank is very understocked. as from now they are at the stage where the parents are mouthing the eggs and looks like they are helping the fry to hatch and spitting them back onto the ledge of the pipe. even if they cant protect them for a long while I'm hoping to see the fry swarming around and feeding off of the parents!

if anyone is interested and to complete this as some kind of log (i never get around to writing anything down) before i went to bed my discus had about 40-50 fry hanging onto the filter which kept falling off in their attempts to become free swimming. the parents spitting them back on. i put the light on today at about 3.00PM and the fry were free swimming around the parents, grazing off their bodys. my male cacatuoides was lurking by a nearby piece of bogwood, looking pretty plump and i only counted 15 fry. i don't expect any to be left much longer but when i make room i will breed them properly
