Valentines Day Gift

Hey All,

I'm seeing this girl and her hobby is tropical fish. I was thinking it'd be cool to get her a fish or some coral that has something to do with love or is maybe shaped like a heart or something. Is there a fish/coral known as a love fish or a kissing fish?

Basically something that ties into the valentines day theme would be cool, anyone aware of anything? I'm pretty much ignorant of this stuff so I don't want to buy her something that'll eat all her clown fish or something...

Is it a freshwater tank?

If so, you could get a pair of Pink Kissing Gouramis? That is if there is enough space in her tank.

It would be a good idea to find out how big her tank is and post that on here so we would have an idea what can go into it.

Hey,

I'm pretty sure it's a saltwater tank. She has clown fish so that should be a good indicator of the kind environment it is.

I know she doesn't have any large fish AND cost is kind of a factor, I've been seeing her for about a month so anything over 100 would make me look like a stalker.

Sorry, I can't help you there, as I am a bit clueless when it comes to saltwater fish.

could do with knowing tsank sizes and other fish tbh...and weather she keeps coral or not...

To be fair buying fish and stuff for people with tanks when you have no knowledge is a big risk, if you turn up at her door on V day with something that could wreck her tank or upset the balance of her tank I dont think she will be very happy. Maybe take her to the a fish shop on valentines day and say she can have anything? I know thats what I would want lol

Don't do it, lol.

The risk of picking a totally unsuitable fish/coral is very great and will do more harm than good. A friend of mine got given a new fish for her birthday and it wiped out her tank.

Take her to a shop and get her to choose, or even see if there is any new equipment she needs.

Agree.... Buying livestock for someone else is a big no-no most of the time, whether you know about the hobby or not.

i know its kinda cheezy and not very "thoughtful" but how about a gift certificate. that way she can pick what she likes and what will work in her tank. just explain you wanted to get her fish/coral/etc., but had no clue as to what you were buying:hence the gift certificate. and who knows, maybe she's had here eye on a certain piece of equipment that she cant afford ATM. id be psyched for a fishy gift certificate-always wanting to buy something, and not just livestock.
