My tank is fully cycled now, when performing water changes of more than 50% I usually add a little safe start live bacteria in. Is this recommended? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

It is also completely unnecessary to do it.

The bacteria live ON SURFACES not in the water, so changing the water doesn't cause a problem with your bacterial colony. Its a waste of money to do that. All that's needed is a quality dechlorinating product, no other additives required.

I believe she still had some is why I told her it would be ok. I agree that it is unnecessary.

Thanks for the replies. Deanasue is correct, I bought this at a later date during my cycle. I use tetra 6 in 1 test strips. They test for cl2 whenever I’m unsure of the colour or it’s in between I add safe start. This test kit advices you to add safe start in if it raises. This is what I’ve been going of, but thanks for letting me know that I’ve been wasting my time.
