Not entirely true

Where there has been some early architectural vandalism done in the early centuries. The domed design originates as a mix of Mesopotamian, Roman, Persian and Byzantine architecture. The dome used in places of worship and other high office did originate in 2500 BC at the Sumerian Royal Cemetary.
