Urgent Something Up With My Pleco

I am just ocd and my tank looks dirty so now I want to clean it. XD

Update: nothing major has changed. But my plec was out and about today like normal. Seems his lively self again :)
Just now need him to get on the side of my tank so I can take a look at what is happening.

Also how long does carbon last again?

So I dropped in some food for him and he went straight for it

So I don't think my plec is going to make it. He's gone really pale today :(

Can plecs take salt baths? As I will try this tomorrow. I could see that his; what I'm calling abscess has gotten bigger and it's still moving. So I'm thinking the salt could essentially make it let go.

I'm also thinking of doing a water change adding my carbon to my filter and then treating for internal bacteria

If anyone can advise me better please give me your opinion on what should be done.

The photo makes him look less pale than he actually is. He's that pale his white areas look opaque; I think that's the correct word

Just did a small google image search and found this article with a picture of a pleco with camallanus worms. Does your fish look the one in this picture? And if it's an internal parasite, I wouldn't think bacteria medicine would work that well unless it's for a secondary infection. But if something is moving in the thing I'd put it more on internal parasite. Anyway, here is the link to the article that has the picture. (Also, not sure if you meant to leave the carbon in the filter while treating the tank, but the carbon will take out the medication and it won't work.)

Treat Camallanus Worms

ps- I used 1 tablespoon of aquarium salt per gallon of water in my 20 gallon tank that had a bristlenose pleco and some tetras before. She seemed to do fine with it. An actual bath I'm not sure though. I think what i did was on the low end of the salt range.

I mentioned putting the carbon back in to remove the medicine. It had not been in prior to this. As I know it removes the medication.

I will have a look. Thank you so much for your help :)

No these are not what he has.
The best way to describe it would be like an abscess or blister with something living inside it. And around it is like a mote of red open wound. It wriggles about.

However today it looked like it had moved slightly and it is looking bigger. It had a white tail like protruding out. Or like a string of puss as it had popped.

I really wish my plec would attach himself to the sides I can see him.

He's also been out and about like normal. Did a water change today and added more of the medication as with removing water removed the medicine with it.
So fingers crossed this is working

My plec is looking rather thin. I've been putting veggies wood pellets and he don't seem to be eating. Though he's active and I have seen him on my driftwood a few times.

His infection is still there as far as I can see.

I have just had a death. One of my panda corys died. But it was very small and I feel this happened as it was weak. My other 3 are fine and very active.

hmm ... I'd be looking at trying a different medication if he's no better. I'm worried that you say he's stopped eating

Yeah I'm thinking that too. However I'm going to leave it a few more days. As it says it takes up to two weeks to work.

I don't know what else I could add.

Also I have been doing some research and found someone asking almost the same question. But there's is slightly different. I will link you to the article if I'm allowed to post PC posts here.

Also this video was linked to that post. The pulsation is what I'm seeing too.

we link to PC so I can't see any issues with linking from them. It's all useful info and we're here to help and to learn from each other

so does that mean your pleco is actually a girl and not a boy? We've been calling him 'he'. Could what you've seen point to it actually being a 'she' instead or have I just misunderstood?

Finally he's eaten the courgette

I just deem everything a he in all honesty.
So yes my plec is possibly a female. But this does happen on males too. I believe it's just the intestines pushing the fish poop through. I read that in one article anyways
