Upgrading My Shrimp Tank

Saddled means they are a maturing female and have eggs behind their head. Once they are fertilised the eggs drop to the undercarriage and are then described as "berried"
The white pearl shrimp in my avatar is berried and they are nicknamed snowball shrimp as the eggs look like tiny snowballs.

aah thnx for clearing that up too mamshack :) always confusing when people talk about saddled and berried i thought it was the same thing just different wording :) hows the eggs looking i just researched they carry the eggs for around 30 days

I understand it's 25-35 days depending on the temp - unfortunately both my berried ones have lost their eggs tho I've been told it's not unusual for 1st- and even 2nd-timers so I'm not too upset. Got my fingers crossed that they will be berried again soon.
Have transferred the "new" white pearls from the QT after 3 weeks and so far so good. Have spotted 4 saddled females and 2 empty females (the ones that lost the eggs) Have been told that when they moult next they should saddle again.

awesome i have been doing some more research and i have come across this site (unsure if its okay to post on here but il do it anyway mod will remove if its bad :p) but i hope not as its an awesome piece of information for any person looking into breeding shrimp, u may have already seen it but this has certainly helped me a little bit

I'm just so pleased that even one made it. She looked like she was still carrying a couple of eggs but I daren't hope that they'd make it.
Maybe be another hiding in there tho have only seen one at a time so could be the same one.

Here's another pic - he/she is getting quite adventurous now and swimming about the tank.
Enjoying a bit of moss!

Aah that is awesome :) so glad everything is going well for you did u only get one new white pearl? Being born? I think that's the term for shrimp haha

Thanks, Zik! I've seen 2 white pearl shrimplets, but I think that may be all there is as she only seemed to carry a couple of eggs to the end. I'll be pleasantly surprised if there are more, but I doubt it.
