Update To The System - Location Field

Yup. I don't really have an issue with broad categories though. The entire idea behind it is simply to know what kind of resources might be available to the member so they can get more specific help. There are products that cannot be purchased in the UK that can in the US and vice versa as well as species that aren't typically available in one or the other. Then there is the difference in money and measurements.

If we're doing US and UK states we need Aussie states as well.


There are six states in Australia: New South Wales (NSW), Queensland (Qld), South Australia (SA), Tasmania (Tas.), Victoria (Vic.) and Western Australia (WA).
And of course New Zealand ( NZ ( ) )

The list would get ridiculously long if it included states as well as countries.  Also some people might be put off if they felt they were being forced to disclose their exact location!  Best just to leave it as country only as tcamos said, if an optional field cannot be added.

Personally I deliberately left off my location from my profile as I didn't want to divulge that information. If someone really wanted to find out they could search my old posts where I have made numerous mentions to my nearest fish shops but don't really want to advertise to all and sundry where I'm from. I guess I can cope with UK if it's the default setting...

I agree totally AND that's not the point of this...we don't want to know your exact location we just want a general idea so we know if we're talking gallons or liters, pounds or dollars, etc. I think I will just leave it where it is.
If you do not have a location set currently you do not have to pick one.
