Me neither. Though I did have a brackish paludarium with fiddler crabs once. Even had them spawn (though I had no idea how to feed fry at the time so none survived). Can’t argue that one. I’ve never had one.
Exactly. People think Tanked is a cool show, but they just use so much artificial decor, it just looks cheesy and desperate. How about 'Tanked' and 'River Monsters' were the worst teachers of aquarists? I never saw a tanked that was realistic or looked like the fish would be long term. The whole instant gratification with big bucks ruled.
River Monsters? Well, when you call those magnificent large freshwater fish monsters, demonize them and perpetuate myths?..you are a near eco terrorist and I have zero respect for the host, "A biologist"..who seems all too happy to sink a large hook into large old breeder fish of the rivers of the world. Any guilt trip he has goes away with every check deposited into the bank.
Talking of talcum powder, it is considered safe and people use it on their baby's butt, but it contains asbestos. My tanks . . . smell as sweet as your Aunt Petunia.
What? Talcum powder, breath mints and gin?
^^^ THIS ^^^Unless your water is at some crazy extreme, you're specifically aiming to breed a given species, and/or you have wild-caught stock, worrying about PH and hardness is a waste of time and resources.
Lol I wonder if that observation is a reason why so many articles say to add neons with larger slightly aggressive fish. Suggesting that neons help keep the peace. My experience with neons is they are peaceful, until you drop a sinking type food into the tank. Then they will nip a Corydora or any other fish that’s getting a nibble or two. Lolalright, everyone gets to share unpopular opinions they have. Fish related.
I'll start.
Neon tetras are mean little turds.
I think Bettas are more a novelty type fish. For let’s say folks who don’t want to do much maintenance. A bedside or desk distraction. A pop of color for tiny spaces. They are very personable and friendly. Good for a kid or a beginner. I have always had them tucked in small spaces here and there. I once had one that lived eight years. I guess their traditional for me. Some of the new species are very pretty. But they are certainly not for a fish enthusiast. Is this still active? I've got one to share that might have been shared already: bettas are overrated. I just don't see the appeal. ?
