Unknown Snail?

Hello. I am a beginner. I recently started a freshwater community tank. I bought some plants at my local fish store. After about a week we noticed a new critter in the tank - a baby snail. It's difficult to get a good close up but can anyone tell me what kind he is? And whether he'll be ok for the tank? Thanks.

Some people don't like snails and will do everything they can to get rid of them. other's are quite happy to have them in the tank. They are only a problem if their numbers get out of control. They can be kept under control by controlling their food. Don't overfeed the fish so there's no left over food for the snails. Clean the bottom of the tank so there's no fish waste to feed the snails. Remove any dead bits of plant so they don't feed the snails.

THAT is a Chinese Pond Snail. Better get ride of it or it will multiply and take over your tank

Not a pond snail. A bladder snail. If it was a pond snail (Lymnaea sp), it would have a right turned shell and the tentacles would be thick. This is a bladder (Physella acuta). Left turned shell and skinny tentacles. I quite like them. As long as you don't overfeed you won't have too many.

I have several species of snail in my tank, and they include Physid bladder snails and those tiny ramshorns, both of which are considered pests by some. They are not out of control because I am careful not to over feed my fish, and I remove debris from the bottom of the tank when I clean it.
