Unfriendly Fish

Hey people... chill out. I can understand why some don't want to enclose some info b/c when they do, people jump down their necks and make them feel terrible for making mistakes.
Why do you think you keep getting people who go on the defensive and ignore the advice given. It's b/c of idiotic harsh posts that try to make them feel stupid.

Ignoring some of the rude comments, you've been given alot of really great info and advice. Hope your fish are gonna be alright!

Exactly right, the OP probably won't be seen here again now, and thats no help to the fish.

looking through OP's previous posts i believe the tank is 84l so aprox 22 us gallons.
you're wrong. i said in that post that i was going to be setting up that tank, not that it was set up already... maybe you need to read what is said, properly, before you go trying to help.

As mentioned, it's the mix of fish that is of concern, not the quantity, but seeing as how you find humorous the fact that your fish are getting their eyeballs ripped out -hehe- there's really nowhere else to go with this.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to pulling the wings off houseflies and burning ants with a magnifying glass.
well i called you an idiot because of what you said... the part where you only said - don't you just love people like this? - like i asked, what's that supposed to mean? you never answered, can't you answer?

i'd prefer if people had nothing good or helpful to say, then just don't bother...

tbh, i don't find it humourous that the fish are getting their eyes ripped out. on a side note, the fish that has no eyes is still alive, which i didn't think it would be.

are you perhaps american? you spelt humour as humor... might explain a few things...

I agree with this, you guys had me worried that my rtbs might start ripping out eyes. if the OP has just bought a RTBS surely it's not big or agressive enough to de-eye a fish. I mistakenly ahd more than 1 RTBS when I first started and they fought almost constantly but never more than a ripped fin in damage. This makes me think its the ghost. I know the guy sounds like he knows nothing but at least he's asking for help.
for the last time, it's not a red tailed black shark... not that it makes a difference (so i was told) but it's definitely not a black shark.

but yes, it is small, and it's not aggressive, like i HAVE previously stated. and i'm not a guy.

Why dont you make it easy for us and give us the tank size? If you dont want to then I suggest you dont logg back on if you arent going to take advice and try to help your fish!
wow, you really make new members feel so welcome...

why thank you, someone who gets where i'm coming from. i come here for help and all i get is abuse!!

it seems to me that people instantly assume that it's the tank size that is the problem (even if it is, or not) and offer no other means of help.
i thought that was the whole point of 'help' forums. maybe i missed the memo that said otherwise.

Exactly right, the OP probably won't be seen here again now, and thats no help to the fish.
i'm here, but i'm probably gonna find a better forum, this one seems full of people who just want to abuse people who apparently aren't as knowledgeable as them.
i did say i wasn't a beginner, we've just not kept fish for about 10 years, so it's trying to remember everything.

it hasn't been long, but we've taken the knife fish out and there's been no deaths (or no new eye-less fish) so seems it was him that was the problem.

thank you to those who were helpful.

Unfortunately some people learn that something can cause problems and then instantly presume that all problems are caused by this one thing and become blinkered to other factors, such as the first few posters saw the RTBS on the list and only having experience of this one fish and knowing that they can be aggressive presume that it MUST be the aggressor without even noticing the other fish in the list and the true culprit. Others presume that tank size must be the factor and cannot see that it is just a case of a predatory fish doing its thing.

The best thing to do with one trick armchair experts is ignore them, don't let them spoil the forum for you as there are some members who really do know their stuff, you just have to learn to sort out the chaff from the wheat
