blah is not long like blahhh blahh blahh, just "blah or "blaa". ;)
eek im still confused. i have always said play-kut with the emphasis on the play. is this wrong? me no understand :(
well, the emphasis is still on the first word, it's hard for us westerners to get used to saying it with a "b" instead of "p". instead of "play" say "plah" (like "plaid" as in tartan plaid). the "p" is kind of soft, pronounced more like "b" if you get my drift..."kut" is pretty close to "ghaat" though, you're almost there. ;)

I say pla-kit, when I went to the betta show they all said "pluh-kaht" like it was a fancy word or something (when in doubt, pinky out  ) but I refused to conformitize :p

I'm not very good at Thai school. :*) I sat here for about 15 minutes discussing it with my mom and trying to learn how to pronounce it. I've never really known... but now I do. I think. :look:
