Uk Law On Tattoos

I think she should be taken to court about this! It's not right to do that to YOUR child! Yes she may be his step sister but she's not his mum, you are. She has no licence, probably only basic training and uses the same needles for different people! I know it sounds bad but if i was you(but i'm only 13) i would have shouted, screamed and thrown that very same needle at her!
This is just my opinion though.

Strange place to ask, but maybe there are some law/policemen/women or tattooists frequenting the forum that might be able to help.

My 15yr old son has Ive just found out had a tattoo on his arm/shoulder area, this wasnt done by a professional place but by his 23rd old step-sister! Iam, beyond livid. I know the age is 18 in the uk and a shop/parlour I would be able to report, but how would I go about reporting his sister? He knows my feelings on having a tattoo and so does she, so they have both gone against my wishes.

Im now also looking into how much for laser removal of the tattoo.

surly its you control over your child, at fault here. it strikes me, your just looking for someone else to blame. I'm sorry, and mean no offence, but thats how it reads.

Do you not think getting it removed and scaring your son for life is worth maybe losing your son ? I would have wanted nothing to do with my parents if that would have been forced on me. At least he's had a tattoo he wanted not scars he will be ashamed of and always hide in the years to come. Yes he has gone against your wishes and knowing kids, done it to wind you up. But surely you have to rise above it. Lets be honest kids do stuff to shock us...

Talking about removal, is there an age limit on that ?

As an after thought, i wondered how you planned to force your son to have it removed?

interesting thread.. is there any further updates on what happened?

Yes, I would like to know as well. I know you are the mother of your child, and you are fully in your rights to give whatever punishment you find neccessary, but laser removal sounds extremely harsh. Not only will it put a hole in your pocket, but scar tissue (and pain) is not fun stuff. I'm sure that he's already upset that his tattoo has caused all this commotion (or at least hopefully). Besides, leaving the tattoo could also be a good punishment. Sure he wants it right now, but if it is big as you say, he'll most likely hate it as he gets older, and if it's something as lame as stars, something (as far as what I can tell from your posts) that holds no significant value our feeling to him, he will eventually hate it and think of how dumb a move he made back when he was that age.

Also, I don't mean to troll or anything, but I think raptorrex brought up a valid point. I think getting a tattoo without consent by you would be equally as bad as making him get laser removal without his consent. I've never had a tattoo (as of yet) nor have I had to get any laser removal, but I have pleanty of scar tissue, and I hate it. I don't like the thought of anyone else having to have it.

lol just tell him your sorry for yelling and tell him youll take him over to his favorite place or something and instead drive to the tat removal place :shifty:

laser removal doesnt leave scars it just (if barely) hurts and it takes a few treatments if the colors are lighter less if they're darker.

then again im 15 so what do i know right lol
GAB, I would like to quote you right here. Obviously a 15 year old knows all about laser removal. No, even though I've never had a tattoo I know people who had laser removal and there was some pretty obvious scarring.

I just caught this thread Minxfishy, what a horrible position to be in, I feel for you I really do. My son is only 6 but I can already see what a nightmare he will be once in his teens, too head strong like his dad! There is only so much you can do as a parent, hopefully you and your ex (?) can see eye to eye on this and keep things in order.

Never mind the fact that your son's step sister is 23, I would hope her dad has given her a right piece of his mind and taken away all the gear before she gets in further trouble!

I know you'll do what is right for everyone concerned

That's an awkward one

I agree with someone else who said if it hadn't have been his step sister

It could have been some other amateur tattooist with un-sterile needle

Its still irresponsible of her but Ive had lots of friends

Get tattoos underage with beginner tattooists in their kitchens or something like that.

I thought just like tattoos though, that there'd be an age limit on laser removal as it hurts wayyy worse than getting inked.

Don't take it as an insult. You can't always tell things on the internet. If it helps, I knew you were a girl.

And I agree with this. I've always heard removing tattoos were far more painful.
