is cleaning ammonia good enough ?

if not, were do you get your ammonia from for doing a fishless cycle?????

also is there any ratio for heaters say in a 100 litre tank ?

thanks again guys

Ratio?

Err, they say a watt per litre is recommended. So 100w for 100l.

Have you tired boots for ammonia?

Maybe someone can comment on whether this is ok

clicky

ahh thank you that was the answer i wanted lol ratio???? pfffft

ill take a look on they're website :good:

ahh thanks for the link nice one

I'm not 100% sure on the link. I would wait for a more experienced fish keeper to comment.

I'm doing a fish-in cycle! doh!

I suppose the ratio is 1:1 ;)

how is that coming along for you ?

Bit rubbish to be honest. Been at it about 4 weeks and no nitrite spike, and still got 0.25ppm ammonia (which is what my tap water is too)

Just got a bigger tank though, and once it's settled, will transfer EVERYTHING over to that. Should be easier to cycle a larger tank.

it does take a lot longer to do a fish in i hear.
also i do believe a larger tank would be easier to cycle.
but soon you will get you nitrite spike maybe another 5 to 14 days but it will come. :good:

The ammonia that you want will have no other active ingredients listed. When shaken it will not form any long lasting bubbles on the surface. The many posts I have seen here tell me that Boots is the place to find the ammonia in the UK. Since I am in the US, I have had to find the right material at the local True Value hardware store. I bougt a gallon of the right stuff for less than $3 US.

nice price lol :)
thanks for the info matey :good:

If you are trying to cycle that biorb, be aware that the filter is the substrate. The substrate must be a uniform thickness and remain undisturbed to get a cycle on the tank.

the gravel is even more or less even across now i only moved the smallest ammount.
