Ok... for the weekend im going to seattle and i have 3 tanks 2 betta tanks and 1 comunity and im scared all but the cat fish will die what do i do put a shrimp in the betta tanks and im not sure about the comunity?

how long are you going for?

most of your fish will be absolutely fine for up to two weeks with out food.

or you could have someone you trust stop by one/twice a week and feed a TEENY amount of food

then when you return start off for a few days with just tiny feedings so they don't over indulge

If your going to be gone for just a few days I wouldn't worry about it. Most fish can go up to a few weeks without food. If it's going to be longer you can get someone to come and feed them.

Hi betta989 :)

The biggest concern I would have about going away at this time of year is the heat. Depending on where you live, if you are leaving your home with the windows closed and no air circulation, it might raise the temperature of the water above what your fish will be comfortable in. If this is the case, it would be good to ask a trusted friend to look after them for you.

Feeding is less important and a few days without food will not hurt adult fish.

its pretty cold here still 70 is the highest so far...

Are you able to have someone come over once in a while to feed your fish and make sure they are okay health wise? It's not like you need someone to stay in your house to watch them, just have a friend or family member drop every few days if you're really concerned.

Personally, I think your fish will be fine as long as you're not going away for a month or anything like that. If it's just the weekend, your fish will survive. I go away for days on end and my betta is always just fine. If I'm going away for more than three days I just have my mom drop in and feed him.

I've seen those floating time-release food blocks in the pet store, why not get one of those and put it in the water. If the fish get overly hungry, they'll eat it. Honestly though if you're going for the weekend just make sure you feed them their regular before you leave, and they'll be perfectly satisfied for a few days.

I'm not sure what you have in your community tank, but I know bettas are incredibly hardy fish and can survive a lot worse than no food for a few days.

Have fun in Seattle!

dont use food blocks-they pollute the water.
the fish will be fine without food for a few days.
have fun on vacation.
cheers

Exactly. If he was only fed on a diet of algae, this may well have contributed to his demise.
