tyre-track eels

Tyre track eels can grow to 40" and will need at least a 100g tank. They need a sand substrate as they like to burrow (plants will be uprooted). They aren't fussy about water conditions as long as extremes of pH and hardness are avoided. As with most eel species feeding can be difficult, at first live foods like bloodworms, daphnia and brineshrimp etc are best. With larger specimins you can also try ghost shrimp. Once they are feeding well on live foods you can begin to swap these for frozen foods. Remember they are predators so smaller fish will be seen as food.
