I don't know really, kinda cool, none the less, better to be safe then sorry :)
(Although when i added an extra devider and add a Plakat, they wernt so friendly)

Thanks

They are so pretty together. That would make such a pretty tank with those two. Even with the divider it is nice.

Pretty boys!

That is just awesome! I am absolutely in love with your orange VT. Where did you find that? He is amazing!!!!

::cringes::
As cool as this is as a behavioral observation, I hate to see posts like this, because I can almost guarentee that some newbie to fishkeeping will see it and think it is ok to keep two males together because "it worked for that guy."

Anyways, glad no one got hurt. Cute fish!

Thanks guys :D

riogal_11 - I got him at a LPS! i thought he was plae yellow when i first got him -_-
lucky find i guess.

RandomWiktor - Yes i thought that might happen but once they put the two in and see them lip lock etc, they'll probably take them out straight away, if they had common sense

Wow, that's pretty cool to see! Oh if only you could have a tank filled with male bettas without it turning into a bloodbath

Wow, maybe they didn't relize there was no longer a divider inbetween.

hmm...... maybe.
They are beutiful fishies
I heard or read long ago when i only had 1 betta that some breeders can sometimes get away with leaving some males together. I don't remember details, but i got the impression it had something to do with knowing the temperament of the breed.
Personally, i've thought about throwing a male betta in my comunity, but I'm afraid to try it. I was told that female bettas are comunity fish, but Betty couldn't stand seeing a guppy with a tail bigger and brighter than her own (poor Tuxita got chased around even after her tail had been trimmed down.), and for some reason my girls always get sick or hurt when I put them with my other fish. stress? :dunno:

Females can be just as bad as males. They work best in a female betta only tank from what I've experienced. I tried to have Twinks in with the guppies, even though it's a 10 gal and there was only like 2 guppies, she was miserable. No biting, no fighting, just miserable. I took the guppies out.

About the two males. Yeah, it would be awesome to have males together with that awesome finnage and personality. Maybe someone someday will take up the effort of getting the wild bettas that can live together and do an experiment to see if they can produce the different recognized colors while maintaining the calm temperment. But for now, my guys are just fine behind their dividers!

Interesting that they hadn't attacked yet. When my boy jumped, he only had a few bits out of his tail, but still.

I guess my Orange Vt went crazy, even though he had some torn up fins from another fight. He went into ly Lylacs side and the Lylac gave one hell of a beating in the tail. Man, i feel so bad, he looks like a badly cut up CT :( I'm going to the LFS tomorow to get some melafix (heard its better then Beta-fix) and will add some salt. Hope he gets back his tail.

i feel gutted, the dividers suck, i've seperated them into breeding nets and containers for now, and will get something for them tomorow.

I got lost. Did they have a second go? Did they junp the divider a second time?
